THE PRACTICE OF THE PRESENCE OF GOD

Video # 2

In his second address Rev. Mario Bergner describes how healing can occur:  when we wholeheartedly invite God into our lives.  Bergner explains how practicing God’s presence is a spiritual discipline, involving our understanding of God’s transcendent yet immanent nature, our embracing the pattern of Jesus’ life in order to invite him more fully into our own, and finally, our growth in constantly calling upon Jesus to be with us.  The Practice of the Presence of God encourages us as we each continue the journey from sinner into sainthood, empowered by God’s Spirit.

SIN, THE CROSS, AND THE TRUE-SELF

Video # 3

In this, his third talk Rev. Mario Bergner culminates his teachings with a lecture on Christian Anthropology.  Studying what Scripture has to say about who we are helps us understand further how to loosen the bonds of sin and live in God’s forgiveness.  Bergner formulates concise definitions of what sin does and how it works, then shows how the cross of Christ thoroughly redeems each aspect of sinful behavior.  Jesus’ work on the cross allows our true selves to emerge and to walk in spiritual maturity.

Changing Culture, Changing Questions

By Rev. Rick Richardson

Video #4

In his first session Rev. Rick Richardson dives right into the foundational issues which keep those who are broken from seeking healing.  Richardson explores how the changes in our culture and some of the church’s wrong responses to questions have alienated the present generation.  Topics covered include:  the new questions/issues this generation struggles with, how to engage seekers and the broken in conversations of depth on difficult topics, and how to speak truth with grace into others’ lives.  By the end of this talk, participants will understand better how to relate to today’s questions as they hold out the hope of Christ to those who suffer.

Bringing Healing to a Broken World

by Rev. Rick Richardson

 Video # 5

In his second session , Rev. Rick Richardson teaches on how to bring healing to those who are broken.  With exegesis of two key passages in which Christ heals, short vignettes of his own experiences in healing, and thoughtful key points to ponder, Richardson brings to life the power of Christ to heal.  Participants will learn how to assess their ministry’s effectiveness in offering healing, how to understand different aspects of healing, and how to develop a healing prayer ministry.  In addition, Richardson offers thorough resources of ways to pray with those who hurt based upon understanding the roots of evil, not the fruits.  His model of reaching into the very core of brokenness in order to release Christ’s healing will surely impact each one of us who seeks to know how to minister.

Equipping the Church for Pastoral Prayer

by Juliana Wilhelm

Video #6

The last session of the “Pastoral Care for the Sexually Broken” features therapist Juliana Wilhelm on the topic of equipping for pastoral care.  Mrs. Wilhelm leads us through guiding principles of healing prayer as well as topics to cover in prayer with someone seeking healing.  Juliana uses her training as a psychologist to help inform us of possible areas of brokenness we may encounter in those we endeavor to help.  Once these roots are acknowledged, we can pray for specific healing, which will release the broken from continual cycles of trying to solve their struggles on their own.  Key to this talk is the understanding that inviting God into each area of our brokenness will yield power for healing and lasting change.
